Chef JD Fratzke

Born in Minnesota, Fratzke has been a part of the local restaurant community for over 30 years. In 2016, he won the Charlie Award for Outstanding Chef of the Year by the greater Minnesota restaurant community, and in 2018 he was named Best Chef in the Twin Cities by City Pages magazine.


“Wineside is going to elevate the way our customers enjoy our products,” says JD Fratzke, "I believe in creating a novel experience that will take customers on a tasting journey inspired by wine and food regions all over the world. We want this experience to not only exist at Wineside, but to be recreated at home, which will be possible with our new boutique grocery store."


During his career, Fratzke has served a multitude of roles around the kitchen and on the business side of the hospitality industry. He created and served as the Executive Chef of the renowned The Strip Club Meat and Fish in St. Paul. Likewise, he was the Sous Chef for the grand opening of Chino Latino and longtime Chef with Parasole restaurant Holdings. He helped create and operate Artisan Plaza, a multi-outlet, community-focused food operation that included a high-end supper club and farmers market with an emphasis on local, gourmet, chef-driven menus. In 2019, JD appeared as a judge and mentor on Bravo TV's Top Chef. Most recently, he has taken on a role as culinary consultant for local independent projects and pop-up events.
